Latest News

As the state of Florida begins reopening restaurants, gyms, and other public places, Gildemeister Tennis Academy (GMT) is happy to announce that summer camp will compense on Mon., June 1.

However, safety precautions and social distancing will still be implemented during training as CEO and Founder of GMT, Hans Gildemeister, stresses daily to both his students and parents.

Students will be spaced and separated throughout several courts, and large clusters of people will be avoided. Yet, training will continue to be intense as drilling, match play, and fitness sessions will be implemented every day in order to insure that our players continue to improve. Thus, they will be ready for when USTA tournaments, and others, begin again.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Drilling, strategy, and match play from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Drilling, strategy, and match play from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Fitness from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Stay Safe and Stay Active

As tennis clubs and fitness centers close (however, our Hunters Green and Feather Sound locations are still open) due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s still important to stay active and healthy. Exercising is a great way to alleviate stress and keep our immune systems strong as those around us continue to fall ill.

There are plenty of ways to exercise, without equipment, at home. Here are some ideas:

  • Run around your neighborhood and track your distance and time using an app like Runkeeper
  • Download the Nike Training Club app which offers a variety of different workouts
  • Find workouts on YouTube

However, for those that play tennis, it can be a challenge to continue to practice in the midst of a quarantine; yet, you can still practice your shadow swings at home and watch tennis matches on Tennis Channel or Youtube.

Or, you can find creative ways to continue to play tennis as many people throughout the world have done. The following video shows one way people have continued to play tennis at home.

Whichever way you choose to stay active, remember that you are not alone and we will soon get past this. Stay safe, and stay active.
